Interloper
I am caught up in Lincoln’s Melancholy, which hit the shelves last year.
Joshua Wolf Shenk spent seven years researching this glimpse into Lincoln’s lifelong struggle with the Black Hole of depression. The result of Shenk’s toil is engrossing.
Shenk has allowed me to step inside Lincoln’s tortured mind and eavesdrop on his most private thoughts.
For those of us who have walked Lincoln’s path of pain, his story is a light in the darkness.
Keep walking towards the light.
Noted, with thanks from a manic depressive. Have a fabulous weekend.
You’re so very welcome, Anne. I’m right there with you, walking towards the light.
Been there, done that. Thank heavens I’ve been free of it for some years without meds. My heartfelt sympathy to all still suffering. I know it could hit me again any day, when razor blades looked like a good option. Be gentle with yourselves.
Blessings to you, Lynne.
Thank you Sandy. Why is it that so many people don’t understand it or pooh-pooh depression? It is as real as flu, and far more dangerous. Go well, all of you.
